Cedar Chest and Magnet Board

I just had to post this because both of these things are beautiful. The cedar chest is gorgeous. I love it. It smells so good!

Christmas Day!

I love Christmas! In the morning I was awoken at seven o'clock by my husband who was so excited to open presents. It was hilarious. I rolled over and went back to sleep until eight thirty. He finally got me up and awake enough to open presents. I got a BEAUTIFUL cedar hope chest that Beau and Daryl made for me, Nancy Drew computer games, and tons of scrapbook stuff. I got him lots of clothes, a wratchet set, and candy. It was a wonderful first Christmas for us. We showered, got ready for the day and went out to see who was there. After chatting for a while we went to our old apartment and packed up more stuff. It was kind of depressing actually. I don't like that feeling of having to pack again. When we came back we decided that we wanted to build a snowman. So Beau and I put on some snowsuits and went outside to PLAY! It was a blast! Beau was only sucessful in making the bottom half of the snowman and I only got to make one snow angel before I lost my wedding ring. I was freaking out. Luckily we found it in the glove that Beau had pulled off my hand. After that we weren't really in the mood to play in the snow anymore. The rest of the day was lazy and wonderful. We went to bed early and it ended great.

Christmas Eve

Christmas eve was a wonderful event! That morning we were packing up the house getting ready to move some stuff to the Gibbs. They are so sweet for letting us seek refuge at their house while we find somewhere else to live. Thanks mom and dad we honestly could not ask for better parents. Anyway, around four thirty everyone showed up. It was Conner, Logan, Tiffany, Jens, Mom, Dad, Grandma Gibbs, Grandpa Gibbs, Stacie, Zach, Beau, and Me! Don't worry Jamie we all had your family in our minds and hearts this season. We miss you! We all stood around and talked while munching on yummy food and laughing. It was so wonderful to be with the family on this joyous occasion. Mechel outdid herself by making a beautiful spread of food for us to enjoy. We had steak, crab legs, potatoes, jello salad, shrimp, cheese, crackers, etc. Everything you can imagine, we ate it.

After the dinner Stacie and Zach had to leave to go to her parents house so the rest of us went by the tree and opened presents. We had Tiffany and Jens this year and they had us. Tiffany made me the CUTEST magnet board ever! I love it! I am going to take a picture of it and post it up soon. They also got Beau a calculator and a shirt. We had a wonderful time.

That night, after everyone left, Beau and I went outside to play in the snow. It had snowed probably 10 inches in the valley. I haven't ever seen that much snow...at least not that I can remeber. It was a blast to go run around outside in the snow with Beau. We were taking pictures and I think we woke Jim and Mechel up...sorry guys! What a great Christmas Eve it was!

Friends Christmas Party!!! 12.21.2007

So we had a wonderful opportunity to get together with the old roomates that Beau lived with for almost a year. It was so much fun to see Heidi and Nate and everyone else. With how crazy everything has been latley we haven't had much time to really see anyone. So on Friday they all came to our house around seven to eat. It was Dan Lee and his wife (I don't know her name), Cam, Nathan and Heidi Hiatt, and Beau and I! We ate spagetti and then went in the living room to remenice about old times and to laugh. I haven't laughed like that with Heidi in ages. It was really a wonderful feeling. We had a blast. These pictures are proof that when Cam, Nate, and Beau get together....there is no stopping them.

Joke of the week!

I had to write this because it's just too perfect. I went into the insta care on Tuesday night because my ears were hurting so bad that they caused my head to hurt so bad that it caused me to throw up. Too much information? Probably. Anyway I got an antibiotic because I had a bad ear infection in one ear that was moving to my other ear. Well apparently the antibiotic didn't work because I went BACK to the insta care on saturday night to find that I had full blown ear infections in both ears which was trapping fluid behind my ears. :D They gave me a much stronger antibiotic and the best part of all is when the doctor looked at me and said "you know it's really strange for someone your age to get ear infections in both of their ears this bad. Have you had ear problems before?" The answer of course is no. Merry Christmas!

In Memory of Fern

So as you all probably know by now our landlord Fern died yesterday. Her son calls her every night starting at eight pm. If she doesn't answer by nine then he comes over to check. Well I guess last night he came over to check on her and he found her dead in her bed. At about 12:30 we heard people walking and talking upstairs and we were really confused about what was going on. I was worried that someone was robbing Fern! Beau got out of bed and said "I'm going to go check on her." I made him take his phone because if someone is robbing her than what will stop them from robbing us! It turns out it was her son and a couple of other people. The ambulance had just come and picked Fern up. So sad. The real sad part it that we need to be out before the new year. They are selling the house and they have people already interested in it. It's hard because we put so much time and effort into making this little house a home but, Heavenly Father obviously wants us somewhere else. I am hoping that by remaining faithful and COMPLETELY in love we will have answers. I'm not sure what we are going to do so please pray for us!

Beau update!

Well we went back to the doctor this morning so Beau could get his hand in a real cast not just the plaster one they had previously given him. As you can tell by this picture he is exhausted. It has been one long day. He chose red for his cast, of course, and it looks pretty good. The doctor took out the stiches and told him that because scar tissue is forming around the tendon really quickly we need to start therapy in two weeks. So we go back on New Years Eve to remove the cast and then see if the tendon is healed. If it is then they will begin therapy. After each session of therapy they will stick the cast back on his hand and he will continue that process until he has regained mobility. The doctor said that there is nerve damage that can't be fixed and Beau will always have numb spots in that thumb but he is confident that Beau will be ok. Thank goodness. I think that was just a big relief for Beau. I just want to say thanks to Jens for being at the appointment. It really meant a lot for Beau to have you there making sure he was going to be ok. Thanks Jens we love you so much!

Oh and Beau went in for the interview with his hopefully new job today and he said it went great!! We will know in a couple of weeks. Pray for us!!

Temple Square

Beau decided that since we hadn't been out on a Friday night date in a month because I got sick, that we needed a saturday night date. Between my sickness and his accident we have been losing site of what is the most important thing in this world to us, which is us and our marriage.

We went down to the Salt Lake Temple to see the lights and remember how we felt about eachother the day so recently that we were sealed. The lights were magnificent as usual and we had so much fun just wandering around enjoying the evening. My two favorite parts were the nativity and the reflecting pool.

In the nativity scene that they put on we were able to just sit and listen to them talk about the true meaning of Christmas which is Christ the Lord. At the end of the "voice" reading in Luke, President Hinckley came on to speak. I just love our Prophet. His voice is so distinct and full of love every time he speaks. I cried, of course, but more it just brought everything in our lives back into perspective. I am so grateful for the opportunity that we had to go to the Temple and feel the spirit. I love my wonderful husband so much and I am proud of everything he has accomplished. Though we have had serious trial after trial, we will not give up.

Sad Day

Well I don't know how to really start this blog except to say that Beau got hurt. I got a call from Jens on Friday saying that Beau was in the hospital. I thought he was kidding me. It probably took a good two or three minutes before I believed him. I mean, nobody who has a husband or loved one working construction wants to recieve a phone call like that. So I immediatly burst into tears and rushed to the insta-care in Layton. Thank goodness for Jen because I was a wreck and she just talked to me the entire way. I had no idea what exactly had happened to Beau or if he was going to be really ok. When I got there the first thing Beau said to me was "well, it looks as if I don't have regenerative abilities" I just started crying again. I was so worried about him! It turns out the gaurd on the skill saw stuck and Beau reached down to move the cord of the saw and it sliced through the major tendon in his thumb and knicked the bone. There was nerve damage in two of his fingers and he took a good chunck out of the tendon he cut. The special hand doctor was able to pull the tendon back together and sew him up but we go back in for a post-op on Tuesday. The tendon will take 6-8 weeks to heal and then he has to start therapy to retrieve full mobility back in his hand.

It is so hard for me to see him not be able to do all the things he wants to do like drive, button a shirt, wash his hair, swim in the swim meet next week, go ice climbing, etc.
He did however tie his own tie for church by using his right hand and his mouth, I was so proud. Our new years resolution is to not go to the insta-care at all next year because between the two of us, I've never been there so many times in my life! I am not sure what the lesson is that we need to learn from this one but...I guess it all comes with time.

Christmas time is here!!

I love Christmas time! Hooray! Beau and I searched long and hard to find the perfect tree but it was beginning to look like we would never find it. Well, we eventually did. It is a big, REAL, pine tree that smells so good in our house. I fell in love right when I saw it and we had to have it. So, us being us, we didn't have a truck and we weren't really near a truck so we just borrowed trucker straps from Brandon and Jen and then tied it to the roof of my little silver mazda. I still can't believe we forgot to take a picture of it up there! Well Beau did a lovely drawing for you all to experience

After we got it home it took me two weeks almost before I got up enough energy to finally decorate it. In the end it was a beautiful tree and we love it even if we forget to water it sometimes. Still, I wouldn't trade it for any other tree.

Which Disney Hero Are You?

HONEYMOON!!

So for our honeymoon Beau and I decided to go to Disneyland. I love Disneyland! We used to go every other year when I was little and Beau has only been once but he doesn't remember it so we thought it would be perfect. We left the day after the Moab reception and drove straight through to California. The first night we stayed at a creepy motel six off the freeway in Anaheim but the rest of the week we stayed in the Ahaheim Hilton across the street from Disneyland. It was so nice! We got upgraded to the top floor because we were on our honeymoon so it was wonderful. It was so much fun to just be with Beau and be able to not have to worry about anything. I had a blast and so did he. We went to Disneyland for three days and then went to San Diego and got to go to the San Diego zoo and Sea World. It was seriously a BLAST!!!!!! Just being together wa sthe best part of the whole vacation. Not a worry in the world. Disneyland was all decorated for Halloween (my very favorite holiday). It was so beautiful. Here are a few pictures from our trip enjoy!!!

Reception Time!

Alright so I am catching up on the other couple of things that happened to us in October. We had a wonderful time at our reception complete with good food and a CLASSIC cake fight. It was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!! I love my husband. He fights like I fight it was wonderful. Our cake was also beautiful. Everyone was worried about how a black cake would look but I got many compliments on the choice. We also got to dance with eachother to our song "chasing cars" and with our parents. Thank you everyone who participated in making our day so wonderful. We love you all!!

Infectious mononucleosis

Well our week has been quite interesting. All the first part of last week I was complaining about a really bad pain in my left tonsil. It hurt so bad! Wednesday night Beau took my temperature and it was 102. I was so tired and in pain. Thursday morning I woke up and both my tonsils were swollen and covered in white. Beau took me to the insta care and the first doctor I saw didn't even look in my throat, gave me a very expensive generic antibiotic, and sent me on my way. By Friday I was getting even worse. I couldn't swallow, my head hurt, it was hard to breathe, and my fever STILL hadn't gone down! What was wrong with me. So Saturday morning I put my foot down and we went back to the insta care for another visit. I was so miserable at this point. We got to see Doctor Brown this time. I sure do love him. He was so great. He did another throat culture and took five tubes of blood out of me. Turns out I have a viral throat infection and mononucleosis. I contracted the throat infection because my body was already infected with the mono and it just made me very suseptable to other diseases. So I am tired all the time and very contagious. Luckily this doctor gave me a steroid to help with my throat and an antibiotic to kill any other bacteria that may be swimming in my body. Here is the depressing part, I have to withdraw from school this semester. I will be missing too much school with the mono as it is and I don't want to infect the entire student body with whatever it is I may have AND I dont' want them infecting me! So here is a little blurb on Mono. I guess I have it pretty bad. Oh and don't worry Beau and I haven't been kissing so he doesn't have it. So now I have to go to sleep. I swear it is the weirdest thing, I fall asleep for five hours and then I am awake for two and then back asleep for five. I can't help it. Even in the middle of the night I wake up and then fall back asleep. I HATE IT!

Infectious mononucleosis, (also known as the kissing disease, or Pfeiffer's disease, in North America as mono and more commonly known as glandular fever in other English-speaking countries) is seen most commonly in adolescents and young adults, characterized in teenagers by fever, sore throat, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Around 90% of people will aquire the virus even if they exhibit no symptoms. Mononucleosis typically produces a very mild illness in small children, but is typically asymptomatic. Mononucleosis is usually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which infects B cells (B-lymphocytes), producing a reactive lymphocytosis and atypical T cells (T-lymphocytes) known as Downey bodies.

Mononucleosis is typically transmitted from asymptomatic individuals through saliva (hence "the kissing disease"), or by sharing a drink, or sharing eating utensils. It may also be transmitted through blood. The disease is far less contagious than is commonly thought. Mono is not spread through the air. You can live in the same house with a person and never acquire the virus. In rare cases a person may have a high resistance to infection.[citation needed] The disease is so-named because the count of mononuclear leukocytes (white blood cells with a one-lobed nucleus) rises significantly. There are two main types of mononuclear leukocytes: monocytes and lymphocytes. They normally account for about 35% of all white blood cells. With infectious mononucleosis, this can rise to 50-70%. Also, the total white blood count may increase to 10,000-20,000 per cubic millimeter

I've been tagged!

Alright I have been tagged but there really aren't five interesting things about me....I will have to dig deep and think about this one.

1. I am in love with London! I lived in a flat in Central London for the summer and it was the best experience of my life and I can't wait to go back.

2. I don't eat fish..I think it is the grossest thing! I try it different ways as much as I can just to see because it is good for you but it's no use I hate fish! I do enjoy a good albacore tuna sandwich though.

3. I am allergic to Monosodium Glutamate better known as MSG. It is a dumb preservative that I don't understand why it's even in the food system but...oh well.

4. I am an avid scrapbooker and picture taker. I love it! I am always looking at fun new ideas when it comes to scrapbooking.

5. I love to read...especially Harry Potter....OH and Lord of the Rings are my favorite books and FAVORITE movies!!

6. I am addicted to my neices and nephews...I seriously can't get enough I love them all so so so so much! Whether it is playing pirates with Zane, tupperware with Connor and Logan, princesses with Maggie Moon, or Candy Land with Kylie I love every minute I get to spend with them. They are my favorite things in the world next to my Beau who I also can't get enough of :D :D :D
