For Labor Day weekend this year Beau's parents invited us to go to the cabin with them. Because of the glass incident we almost didn't go but, we ended up being able to! It was such a fun time. The girls did great and Beau and I were able to relax and have a great time.
We got up there Friday night pretty late. We had to stop three times on the way up because Gracie kept having to go potty. I decided that she likes the idea of going potty different places than just her house because she will stop at every rest stop along the way if we'd let her. Getting Gracie to bed that first night was a little rough because Grandma and Pappy were there so, it was probably around eleven thirty before we ever got her to calm down but, eventually she did and slept great.
Saturday morning Gracie and I took Buster on a walk. It was so funny. Buster would run ahead of course and Gracie would chase after him yelling "BUSTER WAIT" I couldn't stop laughing. She is so dang cute. I needed to go into Kamas to mail off a package to a client that I forgot to mail the day before. Jim and Mechel needed some things in town so, we all packed up and headed down to the "big" "city" of Kamas, UT. After some trial and error, we found the post office and I was able to get important things mailed off then, we headed to the new family dollar there to get some last minute items we had forgotten. Gracie followed Grandma around the store picking up items until her arms were so full she kept dropping things. Grandma told her she would buy her a coloring book and ended up getting a complete Disney Princess tupperware set, a barbie doll, and a dora puzzle. Lucky girl. There was also this little carousel that you put a quarter in and you can ride on. Usually those are a rip off but, Gracie wanted to ride it so bad and it WAS only a quarter so I let her. That thing went around for four full songs! I was shocked. I think by the last song the smile was wearing off her face and she was looking a little dizzy. It was a great deal.
After that I needed a pair of jeans because mine were way too big. I hadn't worn jeans since February and I have lost some weight so, my pants wouldn't stay up! We took a BEAUTIFUL drive into Heber and stopped at this thrift store to shop. It was kind of a crazy place. It was an old house converted into a thrift store and the hallways were really small. Kind of bizarre but, served my purpose well. We drove from there into Midway for Swiss days but, it was SO PACKED and we had Buster so we didn't stop. It looked fun though and I think next year we will try to go.
We got back to the cabin and ate lunch then...did something else. I'm not sure what hahaha. I think it was raining and we played games maybe?? OH! I remember, we hiked to the water tower. It was great! The weather was perfect and Evie even fell asleep which was nice. I love it up there so much. When we got back to the cabin Stacie and Zach were there. Zach helped Beau and Jim work on a stump they are trying to remove and I wandered around outside with the girlies. It was raining so we went inside to get dinner ready. Dinner was a feast of beans, steak, potatoes, salad, and corn! So yummy. Food always tastes better at the cabin. We got the girls to bed and then played cards with everyone. Stacie and I stayed up chatting and finally we all went to bed about midnight. It was a perfect day.
Sunday was spent showering, playing games, going on walks, relaxing, and napping! After Zach and Stacie left we made a fire and roasted marshmallows. It was so fun! Gracie had her first and second and possible third smore' and ate an entire chocolate bar. I love the smell of a campfire. While we were roasting I heard a rustling in the trees next to the cabin. When we looked there was a baby moose coming down the ravine! He was so close. It was fun to watch him graze and what not. Being in nature is the best.
On Monday we ate a quick breakfast, cleaned up, and headed home. It was an incredible weekend that we really needed. Now for picture overload! I didn't edit these so excuse the quality.

Camping!
So, we decided it was finally time to break out our new tent that we bought LAST summer and actually use it! Our friends Lauren and Chris invited us camping and so, we packed up and headed out. It was so much fun! We sat around the fire, ate yummy food, the girls slept GREAT, told scary stories, and didn't even freeze. It was a blast. Can't wait to go again next summer!

From the mouth of babes
Gracie has been saying and doing some pretty ridiculous things lately and I really wanted to "type" them down so I wouldn't forget!
I generally don't let her watch TV during the week but, I was REALLY backed up on photo editing and she kept standing next to me and bumping my arm EVERY time I was about to make an important edit on a photo. So, I turned on Charlotte's Web for her to watch. Today in the car I hear her talking to Evie: "salutations sissy...SISSY salutaions- that means hello" hahaha
We'd been playing outside and it was time to come in but she didn't want to come in so I had to pick her up and carry her into the house. When we got inside, I took my shoes off by the door and carried Evie in my room to lay her down for a nap. Gracie was screaming "no mama I throw your shoes at you!" and she chased me into my room, leaned against my door so I couldn't shut it, and threw my shoes in. She was very mad. It was hysterical.

Summer Time
This summer was full. Full of hard times, good times, laughter, tears, hot days, lots of swimming, and time with family. We went to the splash pad in Riverdale a least once a week, took naps at the pool, rode bikes, played with cousins, celebrated the fourth of July, went to Moab a lot, and just hung out at home together. We had a blessed summer and are excited for the changes that fall will bring!

It'll be a miracle if I survive....
So for my own sake, I need to blog these two summer experiences. The first one happened when Gracie and I were at home making mac and cheese. She was touching all the burners, except the one that was one. I told her "Grace those are hot don't touch!" and she would reply "no hot mamma those cold." Well I picked up the pot from the hot burner, turned it off, and turned to dump the noodles in the strainer. As I'm turning to dump the noodles I clearly thought "she's going to touch that burner I just know it" in the seconds it took me to turn back around she had put her whole hand on the burner and it was blistering. Needless to say, after a long day at the hospital, she came home with a little "fist." Beau and I had to change those wrappings for a week. She had second degree burns on all her fingers but the pinky.
The second experience happened today. I went to go to the bathroom when I heard a crash. I waited for the screams but non came so I finished, washed my hands, then ran in the kitchen to see Gracie holding a jelly jar that had been shattered and she was eating the jam off the bottom of the jar...and the glass. I ran to find Evie and found her in a pile of glass shards sucking on her fingers. I picked her up, rushed her to the tub and just started dumping water on her. I had to pry one of her little hands open to get a huge chunk of glass out and her hand just started bleeding. I called 911 because there was no way I could load the girls up fast enough to get to the ER and Evie was chocking on glass. I got what I thought was all the glass out of her mouth by the time the paramedics showed up. When they came they wiped down her face (it was covered in blood due to her cut hand and rubbing her face) and they scooped some glass out of her mouth. By the time they left I pulled another chunk out from under her tongue so, I decided to take her to the pediatrician. Our doctor sent us upstairs for an x-ray, where they discovered that she has two dime size chunks of glass in her stomach. They said we are going to wait to see if they pass and if they don't, we will do surgery next week or, if she started vomiting blood or blood in her stool, we will do surgery. Pray they pass fine! I may not survive my two year old...

I know I know
I never post...ever. I have a good excuse! I've been hectically planning my Grammy's 90th birthday party and it has officially taken over my life. However, it's over and I can now return to a semi-normal pace of life. We have had a crazy summer. I want to fill you in on all the details but, I'm not gonna lie, I can't remember half of the things we did. Gracie is growing and getting more fun every day! She talks like crazy and is so dang smart. Lately she has been saying the goofiest things. One of those things is "oh my gosh" she says it before any statement. She is so funny. Evie is GROWING like a WEED...and I hate it. I feel like my baby is gone and it makes me so sad. She is a dream to be around. I love to make her laugh because she will cackle at you. It's darling. She started crawling at about 7 months and is really trying to stand on her own. She loves to pull herself up and walk along the couch. She loves to play peek-a-boo and will pull her lovey over her face until you say "where's Evie?" and then she will yank it down really fast and giggle. I LOVE IT! She is incredible. I love her little personality so much. Beau is doing well. His boss just moved to far west so we are going to move farther north so he can stay working with him. We will still be going to the University of Utah and we are in the process of trying to figure out how this is going to work but, I guess it will somehow. I have started a photography business and I love it! It has been a huge undertaking and I'm enjoying every minute of it. You can see my other blog www.amandagibbsphoto.blogspot.com if you want to see some of my current work. I have also been house hunting, staying home with my babes, and trying to remain sane. I planned my grandma's 90th and it was a smashing success. We had family come from all over just to celebrate that wonderful woman. I'm going to be better about blogging. I can't promise once a day but, once a week is my goal. And here are some pictures....cause I know that is why you are REALLY reading this blog!
Ok these pictures are SUPER random but, I was going to post more and I just found out my external hard drive has a virus! BOOO! So, once I figure that out, I'll post more.
